Our policy in regards narcotic pain medicines.

Dr. DeGroot feels that the use of narcotics for pain control should be strictly controlled. Dr. DeGroot normally does not prescribe narcotic pain medicines for patients before he has operated on them.

Once you have had an operation by Dr. DeGroot, you will receive appropriate pain medication for your recovery. Dr. DeGroot normally does not prescribe narcotic pain medicines for patients who are more than 6 weeks post-op.

If you feel you may need pain medicines for other reasons, you should call your primary care provider or the person who has been helping you with prescriptions.
