Hallux valgus, or bunions, is where the big toe is deviated towards the smaller toes and becomes painful and prominent. Dr. DeGroot now offers a minimally invasive surgery for certain patients with this condition.

Minimally invasive techniques emphasize smaller incisions and more limited opening of the soft tissues. Patients can have less pain, less swelling, and faster recovery. As a result, they can get back to full activity sooner.

Painful Bunions?

Dr. DeGroot offers minimally invasive treatments for selected patients.

Minimally invasive bunion surgery is done in the operating room, with an anesthesiologist standing by. Local anesthesia and sedation are used. Most patients go home the same day. The incision is much smaller, and there is much less soft tissue damage. This may lead to less swelling and more rapid recovery.
